TropiQ, Townsville’s Tropical Intelligence and Health Precinct, is a community dedicated to helping the world access, understand and benefit from breakthroughs and solutions in health and tropical science. Located in Australia’s largest tropical city, surrounded by some of the world’s most spectacular natural assets and biodiversity, this global destination lives and breathes with real-world research and application. Smart Precinct NQ is the secretariat and home of SIMCNQ, supporting linkages between entrepreneurs, innovators, SME’s, Research and Industry. We are a not-for-profit organisation that provides a springboard for collaboration, learning and growth through a range of start-up accelerators and incubator programs, business growth advisory services, investment support and events. We bring together a range of stakeholders to provide a positive impact to North Queensland Founders, Entrepreneurs, Investors, Industry and the wider Business Community. ReefWorks tropical marine technology test range offers a national capability to safely test marine technologies, uncrewed systems, and new sensors in a real-world environment. Based at AIMS headquarters, near Townsville, on the doorstep of the Great Barrier Reef, the secure test and evaluation facility is open to industry, government, and academic innovators. As Australia’s only university established to focus on the issues of Northern Australia and the Tropics worldwide, JCU is dedicated to helping the world’s tropical regions to prosper. The Cyclone Testing Station was founded in response to the destruction caused by cyclone Althea to Townsville in 1971 and cyclone Tracy to Darwin in 1974. The Station’s strategic location in Townsville has enabled it to serve not only Australia and North Queensland but also most other cyclone prone regions throughout the world. Our aim is to minimise the loss and suffering caused by cyclones and other high wind events. In addition to advising governments, manufacturers, and property owners, we also deliver first class academic research. We have a strong team at the forefront of wind research. The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is Australia’s tropical marine research agency. AIMS’ mission is to provide the research and knowledge of Australia’s tropical marine estate required to support growth in its sustainable use, effective environmental management, and protection of its unique ecosystems. The Australian Impact Group supports organisations with project management, stakeholder engagement and program design in simulation and critical technologies.
